We are a parish-wide ministry of St. Alban's Parish in Washington, DC. Founded
150 years ago as the first free church (you didn't have to buy your pew) in the
nation's capital, St. Alban's welcomed masters and slaves, free men and women,
both white and black. It later sold some of its land for the building of the
Washington National Cathedral. It is a large, diverse, urban parish, which
draws parishioners from the metropolitan area.
Under the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, St. Alban's engages in
a variety of local, national and international activities. On Beads of Prayer
is one of these. Proceeds are used to support outreach programs. To learn about
how we got started please click here.
This ministry is open to all Christians and we welcome participation in our
events, which are designed to assist all interested people in learning to pray
with prayerbeads. Youth, teens and families are particularly encouraged to
learn this discipline and share it with others.
Because the use of Anglican prayerbeads is relatively new, there are many who
have never used them and are eager to have another aid to prayer.
Whether it is learning how to pray, making the prayerbeads, or teaching others,
there are many opportunities to become involved. Send us an email or call. Our
contact information is listed below.
